The Waterleaf team is committed to treating you with compassion. Our “big sister” approach takes into account the difficult situation you might be facing. Many of us have been in similar situations.

Barbara Wheeler (Director, Client Services)

After graduating from Loyola with a degree in Education and a year of teaching, Barbara joined the United States Peace Corps as a teacher-trainer in the heart of Belize.  While there, Barbara helped to bring clean water, education, and a library system to the remote villages in which she worked.  She then went on to run a successful durable medical supplies business and is serving her third term on the McHenry County Board. Barbara's compassion for others combined with her experience as a public servant and mother enable her to help our clients find the resources they need to face their unique situations.

 

Cathy Lavigne (Nurse Manager)

Cathy Lavigne, RN earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. Joseph College of Nursing in Joliet in 1995.  Her focus has been in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.  Cathy's background experiences include patient care in dialysis, urgent care, medical-surgical, and orthopedic settings.  Cathy’s nursing experience, combined with her compassionate approach to client care, makes her a welcome addition to the Waterleaf team. 

 

Sheryl Finn (Director of Marketing)

Sheryl is a graduate of Northern Illinois University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.  She has over 18 years of experience in marketing and management including developing brand identity, public relations, strategic marketing planning and both graphic and web design.

 

Sheryl decided to change her focus from a corporate to a non-profit environment allowing her to be more personally challenged and incorporate real-life experience and her passion for helping others.

 

Kathy Mensone (Assistant Nurse Manager)

Kathy Mensone, RN, attended the nursing program at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Illinois. She has been an EMT as well as a Paramedic in the western suburbs of Chicago. Most recently, Kathy worked in the Emergency Room and Radiology department of Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove as well as a surgical center in Naperville.

 

Teen Advisory Group

Our Waterleaf teen advisors help keep us on the pulse of the needs and concerns of the teen community. They are available to offer practical advice and moral support, as well as provide updates on resources available to the teen community.
